Lastchanceforlove (m, 5, Violence–Awe Hush, by Awesome Again)
On Sunday at Remington Park, on the undercard to the Oklahoma Derby, Lastchanceforlove, (m, 5, Violence–Awe Hush, by Awesome Again) faced a small field in the $50,000 Flashy Lady Stakes. However, she made quick work of their chances, winning by a pole and drawing away by 10-1/2 lengths.
At the sixteenth pole, jockey David Cabrera stopped riding this 5-year-old mare and looked under his arm to check for any rivals in the stretch. There wasn’t any!
For owners Wayne Sanders and Larry Hirsch of Dallas, Texas, Lastchanceforlove won her third straight race, each time without breaking a sweat. At Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on June 10, the Violence mare won an allowance race by five lengths. After being given some time off, she made her fall debut on September 3 at Remington Park, winning by 5-1/4 lengths while also being ridden by Cabrera under allowance conditions.
Her last three starts, which she won by a combined 20-3/4 lengths under trainer Bret Calhoun, showed that she was fired up and ready to go.
She paid $3.60 to win, $2.60 to place, and $2.10 to show on Sunday when she was sent out as the 4-5 betting favorite. In the six-furlong sprint on the fast main track, Lastchanceforlove finished first and took home $30,000. Her winning time was 1:10.85. Her record now stands at 15 starts, six wins, one second, and two thirds for a total of $166,860.
For owners Sanders and Hirsch as well as jockey Cabrera, this was their first victory in the Flashy Lady Stakes. Tin Top Cat, a horse trained by Calhoun, won this race in 2011.
The Violence mare is scheduled to be sold in the upcoming 2022 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale on Sunday, November 13th. She will be consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Brookdale Sales as Hip 2428.
