Bloodstock agent Clark Shepherd reports that THEA’S THEME (f, 2, Bayern–One More {GSP, $162,884}, by Holy Bull) became trainer Jeremiah Englehart’s second winner of the day at the Spa and eighth 2-year-old winner this year when she broke her maiden in determined fashion. The 2-1 choice closely tracked the pacesetter behind a :22.23 first quarter. Jockey Jose Ortiz coaxed the bay alongside the leader with three-eighths left to run and she poked her head in front and continued to widen her advantage into the stretch. Hard ridden to the wire, Thea’s Theme dug in tenaciously in the final furlong to just stave off a late bid from stablemate Critical Value (Bodemeister) by a nose. The fifth winner for her freshman sire (by Offlee Wild), Thea’s Theme is a half-sister to a yearling filly by Runhappy and a filly by Exaggerator born this year.
