Therideofalifetime (c, 2, Candy Ride (ARG) – Cosmic Evolution, by Proud Citizen)

THERIDEOFALIFETIME (c, 2, Candy Ride (Arg) – Cosmic Evolution (SW & GSP, $164,810), by Proud Citizen) looks aptly named if he again runs anywhere close to his sharp wire-to-wire maiden victory Saturday at Keeneland. Rallying to be runner-up when unveiled June 19 at Churchill, the chestnut was backed down to 3-2 favoritism here. He broke sharply, quickly established an advantage and set the pace without pressure through splits of :22.45 and :46.02. Making short work of his rivals, the Candy Ride colt burst clear past the eighth pole en route to an 8 1/4-length romp in quick time, getting his last quarter-mile in :23.79.

Therideofalifetime posted the third fastest six furlong time at Keeneland since the return to dirt racing from their previous Polytrack surface. With his monster effort in stopping the clock at 1:09.81, he earned a co-best Beyer Figure for 2YOs this year of 85 and a solid Equibase Speed Figure of 94.

The winner is the first foal out of listed winner and Grade 3-placed, Cosmic Evolution, with the pair hailing from the family of multiple Grade 2-winning Naissance Royale (IRE) (Giant’s Causeway).

Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $57,800. O/B-Stephen Lawrence Fidel (KY); T-Ignacio Correas, IV.

OPTIMAL Mating Analysis

  1. Great share once again! That performance was very impressive! Was this one of your mating recommendations? This is probably a stupid question but do you handicap 2 yr old races using your Proprietary Optimal Mating Factors? Just wondering as it would seem like a very profitable approach! Thanks again for your insight!

    1. He was not, just an analysis based on curiosity because of the performance. He just so happened to be an OPTIMAL Mating. Yes, I do occasionally use OPTIMAL Matings as a handicapping tool in maiden races. Especially because of the fact that most horses bred that way will break their maidens in their first two starts. Very powerful insight!
