SPANISH KINGDOM
SPANISH KINGDOM (g, 3, Animal Kingdom–Mis Vizcaya {MSP}, by Successful Appeal) was rated on the inside and tipped off the rail on the far turn. The bay gelding swung four wide into the stretch then jostled with a foe while making a bid between horses. He took the lead into the final furlong, battled with the runner-up to the wire and gamely prevailed under strong urging from jockey Brian Hernandez.
Spanish Kingdom’s dam, Mis Viscaya (Successful Appeal) also is represented by a 3yo colt named Leroy Jenkins (Paynter) and an unnamed 2YO filly by Bodemeister. She was covered by Midnight Storm last year.
