Practical Joke Colt Invulnerable Wins Impressive Allowance Race at Fair Grounds
Invulnerable is a son of Practical Joke out of the Uncle Mo mare, Mobeautiful and was foaled on March 4, 2020.
The Practical Joke colt recently won an allowance race over 6 furlongs on the dirt track at Fair Grounds on February 25, 2023. Including this race, Invulnerable has had four career starts, winning two races, finishing second in one race, and earning a total of $122,350 in prize money.
The race was open to three-year-olds who had never won two races and he carried a weight of 122 pounds. Invulnerable broke well out of the gate, taking the lead early in the race and settling into a position on the rail. He maintained his lead throughout the race, running a fast opening quarter-mile in :21.45 and maintaining his speed through the half-mile mark in :44.75. As the field entered the stretch, the son of Practical Joke began to pull away from the rest of the field, increasing his lead to 3 lengths by the 6-furlong finish line with a final time of 1:09.57.
Invulnerable was trained by Joe Sharp and ridden by jockey Brian Joseph Hernandez Jr. He is owned by Highlander Training Center (Larry Hirsch) and was bred by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, a renowned Thoroughbred breeding operation based in Ocala, Florida. Invulnerable was sold as a yearling for $130,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2021 Winter Mixed Sale. Clark Shepherd of Shepherd Equine Advisers purchased him as agent for Larry Hirsch.
As Invulnerable continues to race and develop, his impressive performance in his latest race is yet another sign that he is a horse to watch in future races. Racing fans and experts alike will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on this talented and promising son of Practical Joke.
