Client Success: Declaration of War Colt Wins Third Straight at Laurel Park

On November 21, the Declaration of War colt broke his maiden at second asking at Laurel Park going a mile, and on December 18, he rallied to win the seven-furlong Maryland Juvenile Championship Stakes. Joe was the overwhelming 2-5 favorite at post time and was receiving first-time Lasix while extending out to 8 1/2 furlongs. Advancing past the three quarter post and pursuing the leaders, he edged up along the rail in hand under jockey Victor Carrasco. With three furlongs to go, the Declaration of War colt eased off the rail and was put to coaxing. Joe forged ahead under good handling as he approached the eighth pole and stayed on his left lead while being kept to task to win by 2 1/2 lengths.

The winner is a half-brother to Grade 3 Stakes Placed, track-record setter and OPTIMAL Mating recommendation, Irony of Reality (Animal Kingdom)($197,323). His dam was bred to another son of War Front, War of Will, for 2022.
