BEACON OF TRUTH (f, 3, American Pharoah–Awesome Elle, by Awesome Again) bobbled slightly at the break but quickly recovered to track the leader. She made a bid to engage near the quarter pole and took over the lead going into the stretch. The Maryland-bred filly spurted clear under a drive in mid stretch by jockey Julian Pimental and proved best while kept to task.
The winner is the first foal out of Awesome Elle (Awesome Again), a full sister to multiple Grade 1 stakes winner Spun Sugar and Grade 1 stakes winner Daaher. Beacon of Truth has a 2YO half sister named Digital Dream (Lemon Drop Kid) and an unnamed yearling half brother by Orb. Awesome Elle was bred to Mendelssohn this year.
