summer in saratogaBloodstock agent Clark Shepherd reports that SUMMER IN SARATOGA (f, 3, Hard Spun–Love Theway Youare {GISW, $372,990}, by Arch), a $200,000 KEESEP yearling, made a pair of starts for Chad Brown this season, finishing fourth at Gulfstream Jan. 21 before improving by a spot at Monmouth June 8. Acquired by these connections for $165,000 out of the Horses of Racing Age Section of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July sale, she was exiting a sound third over an extended mile-and-a-quarter trip at Kentucky Downs Sept. 5. Given a cozy inside trip from her rail draw, Summer in Saratoga raced in traffic down the back, but was always traveling beneath the in-form Corey Lanerie. Held together while awaiting room on the turn and into the lane, Summer in Saratoga sliced through from between horses and rallied up the fence to score by a neck at 49-10. Elle Ma Souri (Fr) (Olympic Glory {Ire}) was outfinished for the win while covering 38 feet more than the winner, according to Trakus. Trish the Dish (English Channel) was third with an even wider trip. Grade I winner Love Theway Youare was most recently bred to Candy Ride (Arg). Sales history: $165,000 3yo ’19 FTKHRA. Lifetime Record: 4-1-0-2, $61,570. O-Highlander Training Center; B-My Meadowview LLC (KY); T-Joe Sharp.

Clark Shepherd (Shepherd Equine Advisers), bloodstock agent for Larry Hirsch (Highlander Training Center), purchased Summer in Saratoga at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Horses of Racing Age Sale from the consignment of Denali Stud.
